Groundworks update, February 2025

advertising654

After several months of pulling the site apart, we are finally seeing new additions and adaptations here at Penzance Dry Dock…

After over 130 piles, the old workshop floor has been pulled out and 60 tons of steel has now been laid for the new one. We now have 50% of our brand new 300mm thick floor down.

The yard has been stripped back its’ bare bones for this major transformation. Once the remaining 50% of the floor is down we will be able to get the columns and rails up ready for our four KONE gantry cranes, being supplied by technical cranes.

With every bit of groundworks we are getting closer to becoming ready for our fabrication and build projects and we are very excited!

Again, We would like to thank everyone from the National Shipbuilding Office, the Department of International Trade, the Department for Transport, the Good Growth Team, and all members of Cornwall Council who have supported this project from day one.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK by investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
